Medical imaging of VEGFR-2 with Bruno da Rocha-Azevedo
Before his presentation at ASCB 2019 (7-11 December 2019, Washington, DC), Bruno da Rocha-Azevedo gave us an explanation of his research into single-molecule imaging of the receptor VEGFR-2, a key mediator of cellular angiogenesis. He discusses the challenges he experienced in developing this technique and with molecular imaging of 3D tissues, as well as the role he hopes single-molecule imaging will hold in the future.
About the author:
Bruno da Rocha-Azevedo is director of the experimental branch of the Jaqaman lab in the Department of Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is interested in how cells interact with the extracellular environment and has been focusing his research on the single-molecule scale and how molecular imaging can benefit medical diagnosis and cellular research.
His current research project is focused on the link between the dynamics, interactions and signaling of VEGFR2 on the endothelial cell surface and its implications in angiogensis.
